Dr. Kaye Ramirez, PsyD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I am in-network with:
(In-person sessions are located at the East Brunswick, NJ office only.)
Though I work with most issues, I specialize in helping people who have difficulty with vulnerability in close relationships, accessing their full emotional range, and lacking a solid sense of their identity. My additional strengths center around working with Asian American Pacific Islander (APPI) and minority issues such as cultural identity, family conflict, and intergenerational trauma. I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.
My approach to therapy is from an Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), emotion-focused, trauma-informed, and culturally-competent lens. I believe therapy is less about changing who people are, and more about helping them understand and unburden the parts of themselves that have gotten in the way of healing. I am collaborative and interactive in session. I work with clients to build insight, boundaries, self-compassion, acceptance, and recognize patterns to choose options that better align with their values in life and relationships. I recognize the importance of processing past experiences as well as teaching specific, concrete skills to help reduce current symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma. As such, I also integrate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based approaches into psychotherapy.
I am a Clinical Psychologist licensed in New Jersey and Illinois. I am credentialed through PSYPACT®/APIT to work with clients via teletherapy across 41 states, including: AL, AZ, AR, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, and WY; as well as the Northern Mariana Islands commonwealth. New states get added periodically so you can click here to see the most current list of PSYPACT® participating states. I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology. I am also a graduate of the IFS Institute, completed Level 1 training.
Before joining private practice, my prior work spanned multiple levels of care (e.g., inpatient hospital units, community mental health, college counseling) and institutions (e.g., Yale University School of Medicine, New York University, NYC Health + Hospitals).
